I don't want to store movie projects or events at users/me/movies/
I created a disk image called "Projects 2013.sparseimage" with disk utility and moved a movie from my iPhoto library there to test. I don't want anything going in the users/etc... location or my iPhoto library. They're on my SSD which has limited space.
I want to store everything on the disk image. The events, the movie project itself, everything.
I can import video from "Projects 2013.sparseimage" but it only lists my physical drives as a location and always puts the imported clips on my system drive in Users/me/movies/ even if I select a different drive for the location of the project.
I attached an external drive with 2 partitions and both show up in Event Library as locations but only 1 shows up in the Projects view below it.
Both my system drive and second internal drive plus the 2 partitions on the external drive shows up as locations to save an imported clip to.
It's driving me crazy.
I moved from a G4 running iMovie HD and am used to simply having a straight forward approach to where video is stored and retreived from. Because last year I got both an iPhone 5 and 2009 Mac Mini, I decided to try iMovie out because it came with the Mac Mini.
Is there any way to get that disk image recognised by iMovie as both a location for events and for project files? I find it easier to do it that way so I don't have a hard drive littered with movie clips when I use smart folder searches for recent movies because both iMovie and the older iMovie HD store projects in a package format.
This is really unintuitive for Apple and I don't see why they did it.
