American Gangster [IMDb 8.4/10]
In 1970s America, a detective works to bring down the drug empire of Frank Lucas, a heroin kingpin from Manhattan, who is smuggling the drug into the country from the Far East in the midst of the Vietnam War.
Thought this might be worth it's own thread. Stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Directed by Ridley Scott. Utterly brilliant. Wifey and I normally natter during films but this kept out attention completely for over 2hrs.

Ridley Scott has never won an Oscar (god alone knows how, HELLO, Gladiator!), but there's a lot of talk that this will be the film that clenches it for him. Certainly is very good.

Anyone else seen it yet, thoughts?

I loved it. I hope it wins whatever award it gets the nomination for.

I saw it and thought it was good.

We know the son of the CEO a certain large bottled beverage company somehow got to go to the premier and sat behind Denzel and next to T.I. Lucky bastard.

Haven't seen it, but Gladiator was one of the dullest films I've ever seen – like a bad soap in a lot of it

Meh. Gladiator was 'okay', but I couldn't get as worked up about it as a lot of people do. Probably for the same reason that I can't get too excited by this film, Russel Crowe.

...clenches...
He must be very excited about the Oscar prospect!

Oh great, now I have an image of Crowe clenching, thanks:mad:

i saw it last week and it was sooooo good i like hte part where the guy not Frank kill him self and the maid is still vacuming but it seemed long
