i'm trying to back up some dvds.
the first problem i'm having is with mac the ripper (2.6.6). when i use it on my imac g5 it quite often reports that there may be some bad sectors. but if i rip the same dvd on my ibook g4, it does it much quicker and without any bad sectors. anyway, i've started ripping on the g4 and then transferring to the g5 for burning (no dvd burner on the ibook).
the second problem is burning on the g5 with toast 8 using verbatim dvd+r dual layer 2.4x. now the first 15 movies burnt without a hitch. but with the last 5 verbatim dvds i have put in i have received this message:
the drive reported an error:
sense key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
sense code= 0 x 26
INVALID FIELD IN PARAMETER LIST
i looked up this message and in the roxio forum it had been suggested that you should try saving as disc image and then using disc copy. i tried this and got the same message.
anyone able to point me in the right direction?
