Is there a way to find out the date the digital video was shot, not just when it was imported to the Mac?

I know on photos you can see the time and date the shot was taken. Can you do the same with video?

I have a digital 8 camera and when the tapes are in the camera I can see the date it was shot.

If it is possible, how do I see it?
