Movie editing software

I am no specialist in film, but I do know how to create movies for a hobby. I feel that I need something more fancy than iMovie however. There is no way I can afford final cut pro. And even if I wanted it, I would have to pay $1300 for the Final Cut Studio 5.1 package!!! What about Final Cut Express HD? THanks for any tips.

if you've never used final cut pro before FCP express is perfect for you. is got all the basics to make a decent looking film and for a really good price.
