I need a movie editing software that can do quite a bit. I prefer it to be free and am willing to torrent stuff. any recommendations?

iMovie does quite a bit. It is free and does the job for low finishing touch movies. Final Cut Express costs quite a bit, but is easy to use, and the quality is higher, plus way more options.

Your call, whether you will have many projects in the future... otherwise iMovie will do the trick for you. Plenty of online tutorials available!

Gl, and if you have questions, post or pm me.

try imovie plug ins too

iMovie HD (like the older version of iMovie) gives you a lot of editing tools, plus you can download plug ins that will really increase what transitions and titles you can use. If you have the new iMovie, you can download the old version for free from the apple website. For me, iMovie HD, iMovie (the new one), and Quicktime are able to deal with most of what I need. I would give it a try before you go after anything else, but if you do Final Cut Express is the way to go.
