Good morning to all of you,
got a new HD cam and just tried around a bit with my 2010 15" I5 macbook and Imovie. Also i had this Macbook over a year i never realy worked with imovie.
When i export the movie in 720p it takes forever, on youtube there are some benchmarks for 1 minute of 720p exoprting. They all come in around 1-3 min max.
those for the 2011 i5, couldn't find any for my 2010 i5, but mine takes 6-8 min for 1 minute of 720 exporting.
Are the new i5 macbooks realy that much faster, its a bit annoying seeing a 13" macbook beeing more than twice as fast as my 15" macbook with a i5 just a bit over an year old now :(.
Just wondering what your experiences are with exporting on the 2010 i5
Cheers
Daniel

In what format exactly are you exporting in iMovie? There may be some settings like the multiple passthrough/encoding (don't know the exact term) and if you ticked this option it encodes multiple times for optimal quality, but it also takes a whole lot more of time.

Try Handbrake and export in the same settings as you've seen in the Youtube video.
