Movie Mount + Mic

Thinking about getting one of these for my iPad:

Anyone have one of these? If so what's it like? Or maybe someone knows of a better mount solution?

Also I am looking at getting a Shotgun Mic, but looking for something not to pricey, any suggestions? What is the best way to connect the Mic to the iPad?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm relatively inexperienced in the AV area.
