Movie Player with IM client?

This may be...a bit odd...A friend and I like to watch movies together alot. Phone isn't available. Im getting tired of useing IM with a minimized moviescreen. Is there an app ( cross platform would be nice ) that has a built in movie player that also has a built in IM client? is there an add on to Adium for this? Thanks.
