macOS Movie Transcoding

I am wanting to add a feature to my app that will allow me to transcode video files. Currently my app will iterate through a selected directory and grab thumbnails of video slips and add then to a tableview with info of the files. a few months ago I made the transition to AVFoundation from Quicktime.

I am looking for some tutorials that will allow me to trascode these files from 1 codec to another.

Any help would be great. I have Google'd but I must not be using the right search terms.
