Hello, sorry if this question has been asked a million times, I did a search and couldn't get a definite answer. I just purchased an Apple TV and am ripping all my DVDs through handbrake. I also have VisualHub, but right now it seems handbrake is the way for now. So down to my question, I'm averaging 2.5-4gb for all my Movie rips. While searching I've been seeing many of you are getting movie sizes between 700 mb - 2 gb each.

My settings on Handbrake are:

Apple > AppleTV
Video Codec: H.264 > Large File Size checked
FPS: Same as source
2 pass and turbo first pass checked
Average bitrate: 2800

Does this seem about right? I don't mess with the picture settings, I just don't know how some of you guys are getting 700 mb - 2gb HD quality for Movie DVD rips. I am ripping my first TV show right now, will post the file sizes back for each episode. If anyone can enlighten me if I am doing anything wrong or if there is an easier way of doing this. Also sorry if this is a frequent question.

I believe your larger file size is due to your high bit rate... the two pass encode may make it higher as well. Anyway... yes it seems to be right on.
