The new Movies Anywhere App is live, and I noticed there are security preferences offering to restrict the data being shared within the app. I don't love my info being out there, and wanted to know what information will Apple/ Apple TV be sharing with the other studios about me/ and my watching habits?

I assume it's just what movies I'm watching and when, but does anyone know more about the info being shared between the linked services? (Only serious responses please)

Are you asking about Movies Anywhere or Apple? MA's data sharing is described in detail in their privacy policy:

https://moviesanywhere.com/privacy-policy#sharing-your-information

Apple and the other retailers obviously handle the data according to their own privacy policies.

Thanks for the reply, and I looked over the privacy policy on their page- but what I am specifically asking is: are movies that I bought on Apple and only use on my Apple TV, do they share all our movies and collection data with each other? The only answer I got from reading their privacy page is: We share what we want with our subsidiary companies and trusted companies. That doesn't say much, and with every big movie company getting hacked nowadays (Sony) I don't want much of my private information floating out there with those companies.

(I trust apple with my data and viewing habits) but I don't really want every movie company getting updates on how many times I watched Iron Man or whatever. I am sure many people don't care about stuff like this, but it's not really anyone's business what I watch in my home. Anyone have any insights on what information will be shared with all the other movie companies?

Obviously they have to share data about your collection for the linking process to work. As far as viewing data on the ATV is concerned, it is entirely up to Apple what they share beyond the necessary. I could not find a specific mention of Movies Anywhere in Apple's general privacy policy. There is a link to "Movies Anywhere Terms and Conditions" in iTunes, but unfortunately it's not active (yet?):

Are you scared someone will see what terrible taste in movies you have? :)

Either way, if your have the same issue as i do, them don't use them... Any company that mingles everything into one portal may be good for convenience but it would have to know about them to do this in the first place.

"shared" and "stored" are two different... Are they left on Apple's servers and info just shared? If so, then title, and possibly AppleID.. (I say 'possibly', because the AppleID is also part of the file)

Ok thanks for chiming in everyone. I have had issues with my personal info (cell and email) getting sold to businesses, and have been over run with new sales calls, robo calls, and emails hitting me, and it seems like every time I join a new online anything, or merge accounts, I end up with overload of new emails and phone calls from businesses that are now "partners". So I'd rather just Apple share my movies one time, and keep me hidden from the movie companies and their partners.
