Movies in iPad

Hello,

Not sure if this thread is in the correct section but... Im planning on flying tomorrow and I was wondering if I can rent a movie in itunes and download it to my ipad so I can watch it in the plane during the flight.. Can I do that? Or I need to be connected to the Internet
