I have an AVI file and I want to convert it to an MP4 file so that I can watch it on my iPod Touch. I am hopeless with my Macbook Pro, and need a SIMPLE, easy to download file converter. Any suggestions?

iSquint will do it for free. Handbrake will do a dvd that you own and convert it to mp4 for free. Those are the only two that I have.

I second (or third, whatever) this app. I have used it to convert severl movies, and in combination with HandBrake for DVDs you will be a movie to iPod converting powerhouse. Well, technically speaking, Visual Hub is superior, but if youw ant to do it for free, you cant go wrong with iSquint.

I know it isn't free, but I find it simple to export using Quicktime Pro. Worth a look if you already have a Pro license.

P.S. What's with the MR B&W theme today?

It was most convenient for me to use PSP Video 9 as I was really comfortable with it and had been using it for a long time.
I convert everything I download with that, then drop it in iTunes and convert it again.

Can I ask; is Visual Hub superior at doing the same tasks as iSquint? i.e. is it faster?

Or is just iSquint + extra?

Thanks!

iSquint with extra settings and more conversion options. It also eliminates those "UPGRADE TO VISUAL HUB" and "stop sufferring in iSquint, buy VisualHub" messages.

Thanks so much for the help!! I've downloaded iSquint, no problems, and have already converted my avi files and am watching them on my iPod!!! I'm going to download handbrake too because I own far too many dvds...
