I have some movies in MKV format that play in English when playing on my laptop via VLC player. They also play fine on my TV when I connect my laptop via HDMI.

However, when I move the file onto a USB Drive, and then play that on my TV (Panasonic Viera TC-L42ET5) by plugging the drive into the USB slot (on the TV) it will play the video fine but the audio is in a different language.

One movie played in spanish, and another played in German.

What is causing this and is there any way I can choose which language to play? All my settings on the TV are for English, and Cable and everything else (including other movies) play in English fine.

The .mkv files probably contain several audio tracks, maybe look at your TV's manual how to switch between audio tracks with a multi-track source.

Otherwise you may have to strip those additional audio tracks from the .mkv file, though I don't remember the name of the application to do so.
