Movies wont play?

I have a Panasonic HDC-SD40 camcorder, and it uses a SD card, (it's the right one for it) and when I put the SD card into my macbookpro it says I can't run the video? it shows the pictures but when I want to open the video it doesn't open and says I need an application to open it? and I want to use it on iMovie? how? the file of the movie I want to open is called " 001.exec" ??? please help.

These could be files OS X is incorrectly identifying as UNIX executable files. If you have a Windows computer try and see what the file extension is. You can then install the right codecs in your Mac and be happy...

According to the manual, the camcorder records its footage using the .mts container.
Are you sure the .exec file is even big enough to contain video?
Why don't you import the footage via iMovie?

have you tried playing the video with VLC? it's an app that can run all kind of videos.
