Hey all,
Okay, so here's my issue:
My dad and I both have iPhones, and all third-party apps on his phone have come from my iTunes Store account. His phone is set to sync with my iMac, and his backups reside in my iTunes folder.
Now, that he has bought an iMac for his office in the home study, I am looking to move his iPhone backup from my iMac to the study iMac and have his phone sync with his user account on that computer. Also, want to have all future app purchases from his OWN iTunes Store account.
He is looking at purchasing an iPad in the near future and it would make my life a lot easier by not having to have all his data and whatnot on my computer and let him manage his own devices.
My questions are:
It's not as easy as I imagine, to just move the backup to the other iMac and plug his phone in and sync and off he goes, as I'm pretty sure that would require erasing the phone and starting from scratch, even with a backup?
I DO NOT want that iMac to be authorised under my iTunes Account/Apple ID, so that means that any apps that are currently on the phone would not be able to be transferred to his iMac, as they have been purchased using my account, correct?
The only reason I wouldn't repurchase the few apps he uses again, is that it would not retain game save data. My dad is a pretty hardcore Tiny Wings and Angry Birds player and has poured days of hours into achieving some of the high scores, etc.
I'll assume that there is no way to keep the save data for the app purchased under a different account?
I'm also happy for him to keep the apps purchased under my account in his iTunes library and have all future purchases come from his own, but that would still require authorising his iMac with my Apple ID, right?
Maybe I'm over-complicating this
Any insight on this guys?
Thanks!
(I think I've forgotten a few other questions - I'll add them if I remember anything extra)
