Moving from 5S with iOS 8.4 to new 6S Plus on Friday. How to handle backup/transfer?

I've read a few threads regarding Apple disabling the "Transfer Purchases" feature in iOS 9. I am getting a new phone on Friday and want to be sure the switch goes properly. I'll do a full backup of my 5S before I do anything with the new phone, but I want to check and see if there are any issues that folks can foresee with going from a non-iOS 9 backup to a phone with iOS 9.
