I was recently given an Apple Watch as a gift from a friend.
Coming from wearing a Fitbit the last three years, I’m missing a few things on the watch.
I loved the sleep analysis every day, REM, deep sleep and awake time.. I haven’t been able to find a watch app that matches the simplicity of the Fitbit.
What apps do folks here find gives them the best data?

Second, for steps...I do a lot of treadmill walking. To get my steps on the treadmill, do I just set the activity for indoor walking?
Or is there another app that I should use for this?

I really like the watch, but miss the simplicity of the Fitbit.
The heart health apps really make the watch more desirable, so I’m going to stick with it a little while longer to see if I can get over missing my Fitbit sleep data..

AutoSleep. And yes, just use Indoor Walking.

Apple Watch likely will have native sleep tracking next OS update. If what you get from a friend is Series 5 then the likelihood you’ll get that is pretty good.

I've just moved from a Fitbit Versa to an Apple Watch 5. I miss the built in sleep tracking too, but I downloaded Pillow and that seems ok. Would you guys recommend AutoSleep over it?

You can use pillow without subscription. You just don't have any history function. I'm using pillow (free), too, it's ok but not good. The fitbit has a great sleep tracking, unfortunately I haven't found a watch app that comes close, so far.

There seemed to be many functions that you need a subscription for. I used the app for a week but expecting you to pay monthly is ridiculous in my opinion, and not being able to access your history on the free version just seems mean spirited - after all the data is already there, they just choose not to let you see it. I don’t pay for any apps monthly… and never will.

Yep, I agree. However, all the sleep data is saved in Health Kit anyway and the apps just have their own algorithms to interpret it. Maybe you like NapBot.

The apple watch is no match for the sleep tracking of any fitbit device (even the flex 2, as simple as it is).

Other than that, it is a much more capable wrist computer.

You do not need to activate any app to see your steps on the treadmill, but if you want, you can activate the native workouts app and use indoor walk. Others use apps like Outwalk or WorkOutDoors to keep track of activities.

Thanks for the replies, all!
I grabbed autosleep, $2.99
It's got a lot of data, but not as nice as Fitbit....but I'll stick with it for a bit and see if I can forget what I was used to! ha

On the Inside Walk, it does not show any accumulation as I'm walking, but it did at the end, and the steps are added to the daily total, so that works. Might be due to the fact that I never did an Outside Walk, as that was requested prior to using Inside..

I have the larger Series 4 sports watch. For all the little things it does amazingly well, I'll get my mind wrapped around what I'm missing from my other device.

The activity app (3 colored rings) shows your steps if you scroll down on your watch.

I also use the pedometer++ app for step tracking.

Neither of them are live like the fitbit, but they do show mostly accurate numbers when you are in the app. Try to focus on closing your rings instead of the number of steps taken.
