Moving from iBook to iMac?

I just ordered one of the new iMacs and want to transfer all of my current music and photo files over from my iBook. What is the suggested way to go about doing this? I'm sort of a computer newbie, so forgive my ignorance. A coworker of mine said I need to get a firewire cable. Is there a built in application on the iMac that will walk me through the necessary steps?

Are they both on the same network? If so just set up file sharing on the ibook, and drag all your stuff across.

on the same question, sorta, what about from xp to the imac, someone said you can plug in an ethernet plug to the back of both, is that true?
