Moving from Leopard to Snow Leopard

Question... In the future if I want to upgrade my 13" Aluminum MacBook from Leopard to Snow Leopard... will I have to re-install of the applications, back-up my files (move them to external drive and bring them back), or is it going to be as simple as install and forget about re-install?

More than likely, it will be the same as Apple's last releases. You'll be able to upgrade your old system, or perform an Archive and Install. Both will preserve all of your user data, settings, and applications, and at the most you'll have to reinstall any third-party drivers for printers, mice, and such.

I always recommend a clean install. If you have a backup (you should!) either through Time Machine, DU, or CarbonCopy, and install the OS fresh then restore your data, your chances of running into a problem are much less.
