For whatever reason, my Hard Drive icon has moved itself down a spot on the OS X desktop. It's the only icon on the desktop and when I put it back in the upper right corner like it was originally it stays until I reboot and then it's moved back down a "spot." Anyone run into this funny behavior? Any solutions? Thanks!

There are probably hundreds of posts like that over the years but I don't remember ever seeing an answer. Finder does what it wants sometimes.

Probably the only way to fit it is to use the View options and check Snap to Grid.

Yeah, the hard drive goes where it wants to go and there's no stopping it. The odd thing is that it doesn't go in the upper corner. I've tried to put mine down low and it always ends up in the corner, never one step down. I think that is strange... don't know how to fix it. Hidden stuff on the desktop wouldn't do that would it?

I actually turned on the 'Snap to Grid,' put the icon where it should be and the next time I started the computer it was still there. Seems maybe that worked for me.

Moving Hard Drive icon on OS X Desktop?

The key step is to first click the desktop itself. Here's the information from Mac OS X's help file:

Changing the way icons look on the desktop
You can change the size of icons on the desktop. You can also change how they are labeled and how they are arranged.

Click the desktop (the background on your screen), then choose View > Show View Options and make your choices:
Use the "Icon size" slider to make icons larger or smaller.
Adjust the label for items by choosing a size from the "Text size" pop-up menu and selecting a label position.
Select "Snap to grid" to have icons arranged in rows or columns.
Select "Show item info" to see information such as the size of your hard disk or number of items in a folder.
Select "Show icon preview" to have icons appear as a preview of the files' contents.
To organize your icons by name, date, size, or kind, select "Keep arranged by" and choose a way to arrange the icons from the pop-up menu.
