Hi.

I want to free up some space from my MBP, my Iphone backups come to 11GB, can i move the folders onto my xternal HD and then delete them from my macbook?

They are stored in: ~/Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup.

Thanks.

That shouldn't be a problem, just remember that new backups will still be stored locally and if you want to restore from one you (I believe) will need to move the backup to their original location).

Yeah that's fine as long as I can just drag the folder back into its path and then back it up, thats okay. cheers!

Or move your entire iTunes media folder to ext.

Here is how:

:)

This won't move the iPhone backups, but will free up a lot of space.

Ah I would love to free up all the space taken from iTunes, but last time I tried this, I had to locate all my tracks in Traktor (DJ software), and it took ages.

Plus i don't want to carry my external HD about when im gigging, so going to have to leave my iTunes stuff on my mbp! Thanks anyway dude

You can go into iTunes "preferences" under "devices" tab, and delete your old iPhone backups. It is amazing how many backups build up and how much space they take.
