moving iphoto to a new iMac!

aaah ive had problems:

i backed up all 50 gigs of my pics off my now broken imac g4.

i went today to copy and paste the library onto my new imac off my external hd. it says "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficent privileges for some of the items."

what do i do?
