ok, so I've got a brand new iMac and an iPod nano, both of which belong to my parents... when I plug the nano into the computer it just freezes up. is there any sort of reformatting I need to do so that i can get this thing to work (and of course, not lose the music on it)...

First of all you should plug in into the PC you have in synced with and find iPod options. Select it so that you would manually put the songs and playlists onto the iPod.

While doing this you could download Senuti which lets you take all the music off your iPod and copy it into iTunes.

Otherwise it should work, at least it did for me. :)

problem: the iMac is there because the PC is no longer working. (fried motherboard)

and the thing still freezes when i plug it in on the "charge" screen.
