The hard drive on my MacBook is shot. I'm not sure what happened or why, but it's done. I hooked up an external drive, installed OS X and am running through that until my new MacBook Pro arrives. I was able to pull off my iTunes library files (but not the music). It's currently pointing to the internal (dead) hard drive. I'm trying to edit the XML file and I've edited the directory but it's still pointing to localhost (which I believe is the dead internal drive) instead of the new one. How do I find the full file path to the external drive? Or am I going about this the wrong way? When I load iTunes it says "Updating iTunes Library" but immediately locks up.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
