I'm trying to move large (30MB) files from a CD to the desktop using finder and I'm getting an error message reguardless of what file I try. (Getting the standard -36 error message.)

Are there limitations with Finder or does it just suck when it comes to dragging and dropping large files from a CD to the hard drive.

Other suggestions for moving large files like this? Another app or the UNIX kernel?

30MB files are not that big. You either are having a problem with the CD itself or the optical drive reading the CD. Many times this happens when using inexpensive CD media. There may be bad sectors on it and the optical drive is having a problem reading these sectors which would cause the Finder to choke.
