Just got a new Imac, and I was wondering what the easiest way to move my itunes library to it from my external hard drive would be. I dont want to put it on the imac, i just want it located there, and for itunes to know where to find the files. Thanks.

If you want iTunes to organize your files for you (which is easiest in my opinion) then in iTunes, in the preferences you can tell it where your library is. Point it to some location on your external drive. Then drag the files from your external drive to iTunes. It will then move them all to the new directory on the external drive.

If you don't want iTunes to organize your files for you then I believe you just need to switch iTunes to tell it not to do that, then drag the files from your external drive to iTunes. This won't move them around at all.

Up to you. I prefer iTunes to take care of that business.
