Moving Location of iTunes Music Files

I have itunes music on a back up drive that I had used with a different computer.

Now, I would like to move those music files to the hard drive of my new computer.

Two questions:

1. How do I move my music files and still have itunes find the new location of these files?

2. What happens if I accidentally erase any music files and they are nowhere to be found?
