My first thread . Great to be here . You guys are a great and I've already learnt a lot on here:thank you. The thread that brought me in and convinced me to join was about the merits of the i5 vs i7 . Propower(awesome) was posting some crucial info and you were all giving gr8 real world advice . Looking at it from another way . Not the fastest processor but the 'calmest machine ' . The best Mac being the quietest the least prone to overheating ,early fan ramps and degrading performance .I record mainly audio . Im after an experience where my Mac is quiet , calm and almost invisibly efficient . I make music everyday , if a system goes down its like a mini divorce , so reliability and temperature are key factors more important than speed and quietness most of all .

Of all the new generation Macs , save for the ImacPro (just to expensive) , which are the quietest while recording mainly audio ? lots of audio mind , but not a session full of soft sythns etc the opposite simple eq's compression ,verbs etc .... would defo seem like the i5 is my chip .... I must admit to you all that i have been working on a 2008 macbook pro 2.4 Logic 9 since 2008 and until very recently have been astounded in every way .(except when mixing across a big board and legendary producer boosts the usual 16k lift -fan noise !a little embarrassed ) But she has been , though creaking now :flat out incredible .

But its time to move on , sadly embrace logic X and join the super speeds . The new macbook pro's seem very fast , have nifty touch bars that perhaps encourage neck ache , and run hot, require a screen (17"is just big enough) the iMacs look reliable long lasting and ergonomically way better for prolonged work . The portability issue isn't such a thing , with nice mic pre's and instruments etc there's no reason for iMac to be any less portable than a pair of dynaudio monitors . As a macbook can have its big desktop screen .But which is the best machine ? They cant all be as good as each other can they ?(they're pretty good these days). Will i forget Logic 9 soon enough and will every thing get back to normal ? If you were after an easy life , as few future upgrades as possible , : future proof quiet ..its a lot to ask ... but what would you go for and why ? Your help is dearly invited . its great to be here thank you and i hope i made some sense and some of you feel to respond in someway .TX
[doublepost=1537569071][/doublepost]Ive just read that you cant change componnets on the new macbook's , having had a new motherboard and several exploding batteries , this seems unwise .
