Hi!

I have been googling looking for a way to move my playlist playcount data from with not much success. It is very frustrating from most accounts. I currently have my music files located on a secondary internal HDD (K2) in my Mac G5,

I just bought a new HDD (K1) that I use to replace my existing HDD that I used to install Leopard on.

Before I switched that old HDD with K1, I had used iTunes Export Library command to create a Library.xml file which I saved in K2's iTunes music folder (Music).

After finish installing Leopard, I launched iTunes, and went to Preferences>Advanced and set my iTunes Music folder location to K2:Music. I used the import Library command to recreate my iTunes. The playlists show up fine but the playcount do not.

I am hoping Apple would be able to make this whole iTunes migration much simpler. It seems that many people have been experiencing the same frustrations/difficulties with the process.

I appreciate any input on how I can move my playcount. Thank you~!

  1. Close iTunes
  2. Hold down the Alt/Option key
  3. Start iTunes
  4. Point iTunes to your library on your second hard drive.
