I'm buying a new laptop and want to move my Protools LE 7.4 off of a G5 tower to a new macBook Pro 13". I'm using a 002 Rack interface. I have a ton of plug-ins as well. What is the easiest way to move (re-install) Protools and update to Protools 8 LE?

Being a long time Pro Tools user, your best bet for optimum stability/performance, get yourself a Pro Tools 8 install disc and use that. Don't try migrating G5-to Intel. The PPC-x86 switch requires a lot of new code, and while it may run, it's not going to run well.

Most of your plugins should over Universal Binary format files, download those and use those to install the system from scratch. Pain in the ass, but worth it in the long run.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what you mean by the Plugin reply tho. Are you saying to re-install all of the plugins from scratch too? It makes sense. I also have Toontracks EZ Drummer and Melodyne.
