Moving "Purchased on..." songs to new device - possible?

My first iDevice was a 3rd Gen iPod Touch. I then replaced it with an iPhone 3GS which I originally set up by cloning the Touch, however the songs I purchased on the Touch haven't been "migrated" to the 3GS. This means that in iTunes I have

Purchased on Parish's iPod
Purchased on Parish's iPhone

I've tried moving (drag 'n' drop) from the iPod to the iPhone list, but it didn't work.

Is this because I didn't de-authorize the Touch before I sold it?

Is there anyway to move the songs?
