Has anyone noticed that in iTunes 8 there is no longer an option to choose whether a file is classified as a movie or a TV show? Does anyone know a workaround for this? I just got done ripping some TV show DVD's to my Mac, but can't get it out of the "movies" section in iTunes and into the "TV shows" section.

u have to go to one of the tabs and it lets u change from "movie" to "tv-show" etc. by clicking the one u need. Cant look right now what its called

The option is still there for me on the video tab.

If you can't get it to work for some reason, you can use MetaX to edit your tags.

The options moved from the Video tab to the Options tab.
It got me worried for a moment too.

Use that anyway since iTunes doesn't change that tag in the file, just in iTunes. If you ever have to reimport stuff or put it on another computer, you gotta change all those tags one by one unless you use MetaX. PITMFA if you ask me.

Summary answer with details

In case anyone can't follow the above clues:

1. Ignore the fact that File/Get Info/Info/ has a Genre field with "TV Shows" as one of the options. It has nothing to do with how the item is classified as far as TV Show vs. Movie.

2. To set the classification for TV Show, Movie or Music Video, use the "Media Kind" setting on File/Get Info/Options.

True! Use it all the time. TV Shows and Music Videos.
