Hi,

I've searched for answers to this and can't find any. I have a 1TB drive and its full. I need to transfer my music only folders from the 1TB to a new external HDD. This means I'll be leaving the movies, TV shows and podcasts on the 1TB. I'm pretty experienced with itunes but this one really has me stuck.

This is what I've tried:
1. I've copied all folders onto the new drive and then deleted the files in itunes (while keeping them) which lost all the ratings I have (over 10,000). I used time machine to restore an old itunes library

2. I can only copy the folders and when I do that it does not direct itunes to the new location.

3. If I delete the music having made a copy on to the new HDD, it doesn't 'see' the file and I have to manually direct it. See below, I have over 21,000 songs and this is too much.

If I delete anything from within itunes and then try and re-add it I've lost my ratings and I'm not prepared to do that.

I have over 21,200 songs and manually doing this will be a big job I don't want to do. Does anyone have a real solution to this?

result would be:

1TB has movies, TV shows and podcasts only
320GB has only music files (mp3, m4p etc.)

Thanks,
Rob
