Moving songs to my iphone that I had on flash drive

I have a 3GS iphone. I had 10 songs (mp3s) on a flash drive. I moved them to my itunes library (and it converted them). I can't figure out how to get them on my phone. I tried to drag and drop and it won't let me. So I made a playlist and tried to sync it with my phone (manually) but when I try that then it says it will delete all of my apps. Can anyone help me???
