Moving songs to my new laptop via iphone

I have all the songs that i want to transfer on my iphone right now, and i just want the songs on my laptop, how does this work? Can i just plug my iphone into my laptop (with itunes) and click sync?

Sorry if there is another thread on this (im sure there is) and if there is can you just post a link to that thread, if not and help would be much appreciated.

It'll move only purchased songs to your laptop, not anything you've ripped.

If you have a Mac (you don't say) you can use Senuti, the latest version of which supports the iPhone. I don't know of anything for Windows for transferring from an iPhone, but then I haven't looked - it's very easy with an iPod, but not an iPhone.
