Moving text conversations from 4 to 4s

Hello all...so with the 4s coming in a few days, I wonder will I be able to transfer the text conversations from my iphone 4 to my 4s? I am an overly sentimental dude who would hate to lose these conversations.

Heck, I might as well throw this question in here too: What must I do to prep my iPhone 4 for resale?

Just make a backup of your iPhone 4 and restore the new device from that backup. Conversations are stored.

I'll leave the resale prep question to others. :)
 
Once your new phone is setup, just goto your settings on your old phone and do the reset option, select the one where its reset all settings and content, take out your sim card and your good to go to sell.

Is there a way only to backup the texts and not everything else?

There are programs that will export your text messages to .txt files, but you can only store these on your computer. I don't think it's possible to back up just the text messaging data from an iPhone.
