Hi, guys.

I’m moving from a broken iPhone 6 to a new iPhone SE. I had to order it from T-Mobile so it’s not coming for a few days. I have a couple of questions.

(1) Do I have to remove the SIM card from the older phone and move it myself to the new phone? Is it just a matter of pushing a pin into the SIM tray and swapping the card to do this?

(2) I’m on the public iOS 12 beta on the old phone. Should I set up the new phone as a new phone, then register with the public beta program, and then download from my last iPhone 6 iCloud backup? Or can I just set up my new phone with the last iCloud backup and it will be on iOS beta 12?

My thanks in advance.

I would imagine that if you ordered the SE from T-Mobile it will have a SIM card already inserted. You can setup the SE as a new iPhone and restore your latest backup to it. As far as I know, it will be on iOS beta 12.

1. Yes. as simple as it sounds just pop the SIM out of the old to the new iPhone. If you order from carrier, it may provide a new SIM and you'll need to activate it and may contact their support to transfer number if they haven't.

2. Manual initiate iCloud backup on the old device via Settings>Apple ID>iCloud>iCloud Backup, or use iTunes to do an encrypted backup. To restore backup using iTunes, iOS version has to match so you'll need to update to the beta then use iTunes to restore backup after. Normally, I don't use iCloud backup but I do use iCloud sync when everything is basically sync when I sign back into iCloud on new device but you may need to manually download the apps.

or once in the home screen if device is set up as new, you can hold your old device to new device to initiate to use previous iCloud to set up new device like restore iCloud backup, apps etc. More info below.
