Have a late 2008 17" MBP that I've customized with an SSD as boot drive and 500g 7200 in optical bay drive. I am in the process of buying a late '11 MBP. My question: can I simply switch drives? I'd like to put my current SSD and 500 gig into the new system and put the new 750 gig and optical drive in my current MBP if that is possible.

I value the wisdom that comes from this forum, and will appreciate any help I can get on this.

As long as you're on Lion 10.7.2 it'll be fine with the new one. And the old one, of course, will also be fine.

Should work, but may or may not get 6gb SATA link depending on what drives you're transferring over.
