Can someone clarify this for me: Can I use Parallels to move Windows install (including Windows OS and all installed apps) from a Dell machine to my new iMac? Here is a post that seems to be saying it is possible, but there is no clear consensus. Thanks.

Both Parallels Transporter and VMWare Converter can take a running Windows machine and make a VM out of it.

Because if VMware & Parallels have software made to dump your existing drive and turn it into a VM. That would be the better choice. You have something that has been tested by those company's instead of a small utility.

Try it out, I can't promise it will work though. I dumped a old laptop drive using disk2vhd and ran it in VirtualBox, it worked but I would get random BugCheck's (BlueScreens) from time to time.

What is the name of that software? Are you talking about Parallels or some other program made by Parallels?
