MP really really fast or MBP sloooow

About 3 weeks ago I got a 15" MBP but every time it boots up, I can't help but think it's ungodly slow compared to my early '08 MP. Anyone else have both and feel this way?

I'm sure the MBP is fast relatively speaking in comparison to other laptops but I've worked for more than 2 years on a MP....first a quad core and then an early '08 8-core.

duel cores vs quad and even OCTO cores? give the poor notebook a chance.
