iOS MP3 doubt

I used the movie Player controller from exaple codes, and was able to play m4v video. But mp3 files crashed. Is mp3 supported in iPhone ?

does this mean not all the mp3 files (which are playable in the PC) are playable in iPhone ? If yes, how to recognise the mp3 which is supported in iPhone ?

is 3gp supported ?
