So I've decided that I want to re-encode all of my CDs into a higher bitrate. Right now, all my CDs are encoded in MP3 formate at 128kbps. I want to try to upgrade to something similar to the 256 AAC format used for iTunes Plus.
My main reason against just having it all in the default iTunes Plus format is that I do like to stream music to my TiVo in the other room and it can only read MP3 files. Though I know this will still not be able to play the hundred or so songs I have bought from iTunes, at least the hundreds of others I have will still be in playable there and in a higher quality. I've tried simply encoding a few CDs by just moving the MP3 encoder up to 256 kbps, but I have to say, it really doesn't sound that great. I then tried them with the iTunes Plus encoder and I think they sound much better.
I guess I'm trying to decide:
1) Is there a better way to modify the MP3 encoder to sounds better
2) Should I just make everything iTunes Plus ACC and give up the TiVo streaming and just use my iPod in the living room?
3) Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help!
