Right i have a slight problem, got a 1gb mp3 player and i my ibook g4 cant seem to recognise it. I plug it in to the usb port and nothing happens. I've been into my disk utility and its not there but if i go into system profiler then usb i can see that it is plugged in. any one got any ideas as i seem to have run out.

Cheers

Had the same problem. Mine was a Samsung. Sadly there were no fixes to make my Mac see the MP3 player, so I just got an iPod. It's worth checking everywhere you can think of for a fix though. I take it you've done a google search for a possible fix? :)

Its a 2nd gen 1gb ipod shuffle. I've got a 30gb Ipod video which works perfectly but its a bit to big for when i'm at the gym hence i bought this shuffle. I've done a google search for an answer and everyone came up with the same answer format it in disk utility but i cant.

Have you left it plugged in to your computer for a long time? I sometimes have trouble getting the computer to recognize my shuffle when it goes completely dead, and I have to wait for a few minutes with it plugged in before it will recognize that it is plugged in.
