Hi folks!
I've eventually got myself a MacBook Pro after years of owning iPhone, iPad and AppleTV.
I've always used MP3 Rocket for downloading music by way of youtube conversion. There just doesn't seem to be any program that does the same for the Mac. I've downloaded MacX YouTube Downloader which has put MP4 versions of the youtube videos in my iTunes library but i want MP3's and i really don't want to have to use another program to convert the MP4's to MP3's. It's all just a bit long winded. Is there any program that does everything for me??
Thanks

I don't understand why you'd want to transcode to MP3. But if you want to then simply use iTunes. Set the default type to mp3, select what you want then right click and select "convert selected to MP3". But I don't see the point as it will degrade the sound quality.

when using MP3 Rocket, i search for a song, hit download and it downloads a copy of the video, extracts the audio and converts it into an mp3 which is then stored in my selected folder and added to iTunes. all i end up with is the mp3 which is all i want.
currently i have music videos added to iTunes which for example are no use to put on my phone. i want the music not the picture.....

Just to get it out of the way...

Downloading music from youtube is still copyright infringement blah blah blah etc etc etc...

I think realplayer used to have a plugin that did that though...

But you normally find that audio quality on youtube is terrible anyway.

I don't know of an app that does it all. I use the ClickToFlash Safari extension, which includes a right-click menu option to download video. I then use All2MP3 to convert many file types, including .mp4 files, to .mp3.
