so here is my story. i have this 120 gb firewire drive with my music. i got this 1tb lacie drive and i copied (basically drag-and-dropped) the music to the 1 tb drive (as a backup). my 120 gb broke. now i have a new 120 gb and i want to use it again as my music disk. i tried to copy (again, drag-and-drop) the files from the 1 tb to my new 120, it was not able to copy everything.

i tried to manually copy one song from the 1 tb to the 120 gb and i get an error "unknown error (-36)". i have been reading and there must be something wrong with the "data fork".

i can play the song in quicktime, but not in iTunes. i cannot burn the song on a cd, i cannot copy the song to the desktop.

please help me save the music!

Is your new drive formatted as HFS? The drive manufacturer probably formats to FAT32 by default. This shouldn't be a problem, but you never know.
