I have a .m4v movie burned on a data dvd-r. I wanted to play it on my ps3 but it comes up as "corrupt data". This has happened to me before so I change the extension to .mp4 and it usually works. This time i'm not having any luck. Oddly the file works fine when i play it from a flash drive. Any idea why it isnt working from the disk?

Well i've used the same types of disks before without a problem... I used roxio to burn them which i've also used before.

So you believe that just because you don't have problems with other discs of the same line, that the problematic disc must necessarily be fine?

Yes because the "problematic disk" work fine on other devices.
Looks like it was a Roxio issue. The files played fine when i burned them from the smart burn folder.

You can get dodgy discs anywhere. I buy DVD blanks (and CDs) by the 1000 for work so I see an occasional bad one. No biggy. Reburn.
