I have a Apple TV Take 2 that has been jailbroken with ATV Flash with the USB port used to connect a 2TB drive that acts as the sync drive. I load and sync all my movies and TV shows through iTunes.

I've been using MP4tools Version 3.1.4 to encode all my videos using the Apple TV device setting. This has been working perfectly up through Mavericks 10.9.5

However, upon upgrading to Yosemite 10.10, this version of MP4Tools crashes 100% of the time. I installed the latest version of MP4Tools, Version 3.4.4 and this is stable, but I've tried every device preset and none of them result in a video that is capable of being played on the silver Apple TV. The videos can be loaded into iTunes and sync'd with the Apple TV, but upon initiation of playback it will freeze the whole system and needs to be restarted to regain functionality. I'm thinking that this may have to do with adaptive B-frames, as I had a similar problem when encoding stuff with Handbrake when I used to use that.

For now, I've restored my system back to 10.9.5, but I'd like to be able to run Yosemite while still using MP4Tools and my AppleTV. I've tried using Handbrake, but that hasn't worked out too well, as it's much slower, and for the life of me, I can't get it to keep running when I'm not actively on the computer (late 2013 iMac i7 with 500gb SSD and Lacie 2big thunderbolt external). This despite adjusting the energy saver settings to never shut down hard discs, and never put the display to sleep.

Any suggestions?
