mp4tools - can the look of the subs be changed?

HandBrake is an ungodly slow & resource-hungry app, but it does great work. mp4tools is a lot faster, but the subtitles are just white text against a semi-opaque background. i find that kind of ugly.

can this be changed at all? or is it a default that is baked-in? (i'm on Mac, btw)

and no idea why EmmGumm has no means of being contacted at all. i guess for $6/registration, they figure it's not worth dealing with customers.

The look of tx3g subtitles can be changed in the AppleTV settings, or iOS or macOS settings: https://support.apple.com/en-us/guide/tv/atvb5ca42eb9/tvos

You can use Subler instead of mp4tools.

You can try the appropriate dvdfab for whatever you’re converting. You can leave subs as optional. So, that they’re turned on/off manually and rendered by your player rather than baked in. If you’re willing to use paid software.

It’s quite good for Windows. Supporting GPU acceleration on a lot of formats. Haven’t tried the Mac version.
